I have always love the South not only because I spent most of my teenage years there but also of the homey, refreshing and relaxing vibe I always get to feel whenever I am in this area. But honestly, lately I have been missing so much of all the latest developments in this vicinity. Maybe because of the fact that my world has been revolving lately between Makati and Quezon City.
So I was ecstatic when we received an invite from Dempsey, owner of Chibis Kitchen to try their Japanese dishes. This will be my chance to explore the South once more since it’s located at Evia Lifestyle Center along Daang Hari in Las Pinas City and to try a different side to the Japanese cuisines which by the way, I really really love and has always been my comfort food for ages.
I like how cool, quaint and compact their interiors are with their bricks facades and wooden, modern furniture mainly depicting the popular restaurants that you can see in Japan.
It’s also worth noting that you have an option whether to dine in at their Al fresco area or be seated inside with a fast food type of seating arrangements or choose the fine dining type that they have upstairs.
Chibis Kitchen takes pride with the fact that all their spices and ingredients are all from Japan and that they wanted to share how great the home cooked dishes of Japan are.
Dempsey first introduced us to one of their Teishokus (meal set) which is also their best seller, the Buta No Kakuni.
This slow cooked pork belly in soy sauce which was cooked incredibly for 8 hours which makes the meat ultimately very tender, is my personal favorite. Served with a boiled egg, vegetables and a squeeze of mustard. The sweetness and saltiness was perfectly blended creating a rich and flavorful taste.
The next dish that was served was the famous Gyudon, home cooked style. The thin strips of beef, mixed with vegetables on steamed white rice and topped with an egg is one of the best Gyudon we have tasted. The meaty and tender beef complemented with egg created a very delectable dish that is simply a must try for everyone.
I simply love, Japanese Hot Pots so when Nabeyaki Udon was served which is part of their Nabe Series Menu, I immediately tried it. I wanted to try it while it’s hot and I didn’t get disappointed. It was so delicious and I love the tempura on top that added flavor to the overall taste of the dish.
Dempsey wanted us to try their different Omurice. It’s basically chicken rice topped with Omelette. They have the Original, Curry & Yoghurt and the Demi-Glace variants. Among the three, I love the flavorsome and sweet taste of the Demi-Glace.
Next up, was the Pepper Rice which was part of their Cafe & Meal Menu. Mixed with corn, veggies and meat, along with pepper, this dish is suited for those who want some sweet, meaty dish with a little bit of spicy kick.
Last dish served and is also part of their Cafe and Meal Menu is their take on the famous pasta – Carbonara. Love the tender meat toppings on this one and the pasta was cooked just right.
They didn’t have the dessert at the time so I decided to try the Sapporo instead. Mainly because I wanted to check the difference between our local beers and of Japan beers. I must say, I didn’t quite saw the difference.

Truly, our experience with Chibis Kitchen is an eye opener of how amazing and delectable the Japanese Home Cooked dishes are. We would surely be back at this joint to try their other appetizing dishes.
