A Gem within a Gem: The Crescent Moon Cafe in Antipolo is serving up yummy, healthy Southeast Asian inspired dishes just for you!

Ever since we have transferred from Manila to Rizal, I have always been curious as to what Rizal actually has to offer. Growing up, I got to familiarize myself with different places in Rizal, but mostly I have only gotten to explore parts of Cainta and Taytay with a seldom few eat outs or spontaneous getaways in Antipolo with family or friends.

Oh, Antipolo. This is actually the only one considered as a city in Rizal and it has more surprises in it than you would think. It truly is a gem because it holds so many gorgeous resorts and awesome restaurants with a scenic view.

Speaking of dining places, we got to dine in at one of the well-known restaurants in the area which is The Crescent Moon Cafe. This open-air and colorful restaurant allows diners to be one with nature alongside a relaxing view of their garden and koi pond while enjoying scrumptious Southeast Asian-inspired dishes which are part of their a la carte menu and weekend buffet.

As we have went here on a weekend, particularly on a Sunday, we got to indulge in their weekend buffet offering with their brunch and lunch crowd. Every weekend, their buffet runs from 11:30AM to 2PM, with Saturday being for Php 500 per head while with Sunday and Holidays being Php 600 per head.

We started with a famous dish of theirs that has their diners returning to them over and over again, the Alagao Salad. This one is actually considered as an appetizer, a tasty and at the same time refreshing one at that, as it comes with basil, dried coconut, chili, green mango, onion, shrimp, sweet peanut sauce, and of course, alagao leaves.

Followed by another scrumptious and nutritious appetizer, the Gado-Gado, which is an Indonesian salad that is of vegetable sticks and kropek, alongside peanut sauce, which deliciously elevates the veggie nomnoms.

From those, we got ourselves some piping hot bowl of Bokchoy and Mushroom Soup. The subtlety of its lovely and refreshing taste is such a delight we enjoyed having, especially together with their mains.

In lieu of main dishes, the Caramelized Catfish with Lemongrass and Herbs is such a delectable mix of surprise. We adored how the sweetness and aroma of it actually blended well with its other flavors.

Next to that we had the Sriracha Chicken with Leeks which was another yummy delicacy of theirs. It sure is packed with savor goodness and crunch punch that our palate took pleasure in.

In the talks of savor, we indeed savored and totally loved their Korean Braised Beef. This one certainly was flavorful and tender, and it had us coming back to the buffet table not just once, not even twice, but thrice.

Of course, with sumptuous mains like those, it would be a shame not to have some carbs paired to it. Well, you are in luck because The Crescent Moon Cafe has Red Rice that is a filling and at the same time healthy side dish or for us Filipinos, a table staple.

Truly, the Crescent Moon Cafe is all about health is wealth as they really have a menu offering that is of vegan and vegetarian, and should you have any dietary restrictions, just let their kitchen know in advance in order for them to best cater your needs.

That being said, The Cresent Moon Cafe, down to their beverages are all for staying healthy as well. Their Sierra Madre (Php 120) is a blended medley of tropical fruit with no added sugar even; while their Mountain Monkey (Php 120) is a refreshing drink that is of banana, coconut milk, and raw cacao.

Being established in 1997, The Crescent Moon Cafe has been a venue for numerous events and art exhibits, especially that they are also known for their handmade stoneware ceramics that are by Lanelle Abueva-Fernando.

Lanelle Abueva-Fernando Studio Pottery is actually housed in the same property as The Crescent Moon as both are owned by one family. You would also be able to purchase their handmade stoneware ceramics which you can see on their shelves. Each piece is truly a masterpiece as they can also do whatever it is you want upon request.

Alongside with that, they also do workshops such as Calligraphy and of course, Pottery, so be sure to check them out soon, in order for you to either dine with them or live in art with them or maybe even both.
