Bagoong Fried Rice Recipe

We have shared with you a lot of bagoong based dishes such as Spicy Chicken Binagoongan and Crispy Binagoongang Bagnet which come on, be honest, you loved! These two binagoongang dishes are a testament as to how versatile bagoong could be. Its smell could be intimidating and a tad bit off-putting, yes, but do not deny how wondrous it could be! It makes a dish pop! Its flavor is definitely strong and would no doubt hit that certain craving that your palate has been looking for. We will call you on your bluff if you say otherwise. Kidding!

Anyway, with our love for bagoong being so obvious, this should not come as a surprise to you anymore that we are here again to give you yet another yummy dish that you could make with bagoong. Curious as to what this dish is? Well, you better stick with us for a few minutes to find out. Kidding again! It is Bagoong Fried Rice, what else?

It’s two of our most well-loved food in one meal, honestly. It is rice and bagoong all mashed up like how it should be. It is filling, it is delicious, it is packed with flavor. Seriously, what more could you ask for?

We remember explaining to you in one of our recipe articles how fried rice is such a convenient way to turn leftover steamed white rice into something more exciting; and so with our Bagoong Fried Rice, we are turning that excitement even up a notch! Now you don’t only get a satisfying serving of fried rice, because now you are getting something scrumptious alongside that, all thanks to our hero, the Bagoong!

Not only are you getting a rice dish that is flavorful, but also you are getting a whole meal out of it already. We mean, you do not even need a viand or any other dish to pair it with since the Bagoong Fried Rice is a complete meal in itself already. Although, if you want something fresh that would cut through the savoriness of bagoong, then feel free to reach for sliced juicy tomatoes or even tart mangoes like we did. That way, you have something to wash your palate with and even get to eat more or rather devour all the Bagoong Fried Rice in front of you!

Ingredients:
 ¼ kg pork
 5 cups rice
 4 eggs
 1 garlic head
 1 onion
 3 tomatoes
 3 onion leeks
 3 mangoes (optional)
 4 tbsp shrimp paste
 6 red chilis
 3 eggplants
 2 tbsp soy sauce
 ½ tsp salt
 ½ tsp pepper
 2 tbsp brown sugar
 1 cup water

Directions:

Slice garlic, onion, onion leeks, red chilis, tomaotes, eggplants, and mangoes. Set aside.

Add pork cuts, soy sauce, sugar, water into the pan. Boil for 20 to 30 minutes. Once the pork cuts had caramelized, remove them from the pan, and then set aside.

Get a new pan and in there cook scrambled eggs in medium heat. Set aside.

Fry eggplants until they turn brown. Set aside.

Saute garlic, onion, and tomatoes, together with shrimp paste.

Add the rice into the pan; and then follow that with salt and ground black pepper. Mix them well altogether.

Place all that in a big plate, alongside the pork, the eggplants, the scrambled egg, and the mangoes. You can chop more onions and tomatoes and then place those in the big plate as well. Serve the Bagoong Fried RIce!
