Today we are leveling up another classic FIlipino snack and we can’t wait for you to munch on it as quickly as we did! Turon is a popular Pinoy snack among kids and adults here in the Philippines. Also called as deep-fried banana rolls or banana lumpia, Turon has no doubt served its purpose as a reliable sweet fix for when we need or want one. Often seen as a snack which you can actually buy from the streets, Turon is also available in FIlipino restaurants as a dessert option usually served with ice cream on the side which is commonly called as Turon ala Mode.

Anyway, as we are once again feeling experimental in the kitchen, we have decided to try our hand on this popular version of Turon. We made ours by slicing saba bananas into small pieces, wrapping it in lumpia wrapper, frying it until golden brown, and lathering it in a mixture we made with butter, cinnamon powder, rhum, pineapple juice, banana flavor, brown sugar, and banana essence, together with some langka pieces we also sliced beforehand. After making sure each and every turon piece was covered with this mixture, we then drizzled it with some sesame seeds for extra flavor and texture.
