Hui Lau Shan originated in Hong Kong, and has been taking the world by storm with its lineup of delicious mango creations. It has since then opened branches in Asian countries like China, Malaysia, South Korea, Macau, Taiwan and Vietnam, and has even grown internationally in Canada, Paris and even Melbourne! But now, Filipinos can get a taste of these expertly crafted drinks and desserts with Hui Lau Shan’s first-ever branch in Manila— located in SM Megamall!

The Fat Daddy’s Group, or the creatives behind the restaurant Fat Daddy’s Smokehouse, are the ones responsible for bringing this mango-loving chain store in, and we couldn’t be happier.20190331_012751_0001

“The grand launching of our first store is about celebrating the homecoming of our pride, the Philippine Carabao mangoes. Plus, enjoying the taste of Hui Lau Shan mango treats is also a simple way of supporting our local agribusiness because the brand is expected to consume one ton of mangoes for 10 to 15 stores a week,” said Freshnaida Versoza, President and CEO of Fat Daddy’s group, when asked why they chose to bring in Hui Lau Shan.

During their grand launch in the SM Megamall Atrium, where their first branch is currently located, Hui Lau Shan kicked off the festivities with activities and games, where participants won gift certificates while sampling Hui Lau Shan’s expertly crafted mango desserts and drinks. Famous influencers and food bloggers made their appearance, along with multi-media personality Christine Bersola-Babao herself!

Hui Lau Shan’s lineup of dessert and drinks all use premium Filipino carabao mangoes— the best of the best, which are sourced locally. No other mango comes close to the juicy sweetness that carabao mangoes has, and while Hui Lau Shan is an international brand, its use of this fruit has helped propel a Filipino classic to worldwide popularity.

Hui Lau Shan’s mango slushies— called Mango juice in Hong Kong— include your choice of toppings, ranging from white pearl sago to mango chunks, aloe vera jelly and more! Combined with the icy sweetness of mango, these toppings add a new depth of taste and a delightful chew, much like the boba in milk tea, only healthier and fruitier. Their bestselling drink features a tri-colored layer of aloe jelly, coconut milk and mango slushie on top— a must-have for those who want something unique.

And if you’re craving the taste of tea, there’s always the Mixed Fruit Oolong Tea— a light and refreshing blend of grassy oolong infused with the sweetness of strawberries, lemons and fruits. Plus, each drink comes with slices of fruit that you can munch on later!

Aside from refreshing drinks, Hui Lau Shan also serves mango desserts that showcase how creative they can get with mangoes. Taking inspiration from Japanese and even international desserts, Hui Lau Shan’s bestsellers include the Mango Mochi: a rice flour dessert with a coating of shredded coconut and chunks of mango in every bite. It’s sticky, stretchy and delicious as a snack.

Another fan favorite is their Mango Crepe, which features a large slice of sweet mangoes with cream— all of which are encased in a thin crepe. Balls of watermelon and melon are served alongside for that extra refreshing fruit fix, and a light drizzle of chocolate syrup, and some chocolate chips.
