The New Normal Dim Sum Lunch Buffet for P999+ at Red Lantern, Solaire Resort & Casino

Who doesn’t love Chinese food? We at What To Eat Ph, at the very least, are all in loooove with Chinese. And we know you do, too! We fell even harder, thanks to this Dim Sum Lunch Buffet by Red Lantern at Solaire Resort & Casino.

Just recently, we were invited to experience the restaurant’s dim sum lunch buffet. To be honest, I personally was having seconds thoughts on joining, because #COVIDisReal. But aside from Oktoberfest, we also cannot say “no” to dim sum or anything Soliare hosts. I was sure we were in good hands, and unlimited dim sum? For lunch? Yes, please!

Note: We’re not here to encourage you to go and stay outside especially when you don’t feel safe yet. So we’re very thrilled to share Red Lantern is open for private/personal food pick-ups for when you are craving for authentic Chinese cuisine. You may visit their website or contact them directly for orders and/or reservations.

As we entered the restaurant, we knew there’s nothing to worry about as they strictly follow health protocols in a way dining guests can still enjoy their lunch together. They have a total capacity of 50-60 dining guests, including private function rooms, set with physically-distanced seats. Unlike the usual buffet dining, there’s no buffet spread for now, but you can order these yummies without limits. (Remember to be kind to the staff and servers! They’re too nice!) With over 46 varieties of dishes from dim sum to sweet, yummy desserts, along with your friends and family, their price stays at P999+ to P1,388+.

We tried almost every dish in the dim sum lunch menu, plus special chef-recommended ala carte dishes as well, and they’re all very good! We love dim sum, what we liked more about this set of menu is it goes beyond dim sum. It has House-made Chicken Barbeque items, Soup and Broth, Rice Rolls, Deep Fried and Baked dishes, Rice, Noodles, and of course… desserts!

From the appetizers and dim sum, our common favorites (though it’s really hard to pick one!) are the Braised Bean Curd with Herbal Soya Sauce, Hao Gao, Steamed Chicken Feet in Szechuan Sauce (I mean, uuggghhh! <3). We also loved the Steamed Rice Roll with Shrimps and Coriander which is much more tasty when you take a bite with the sauce. The Deep-Fried Rice Paper Rolls with Shrimps and Mango is super nice, too, and unbelievably great with chili sauce. Yeah, I’m that kind of chili lover.

The appetizers and dim sums were nearly enough to make us full, but here comes a whole set of Main Course menu! I will have to mention everything as they’re all delicious. But I’m gonna highlight the Deep-fried Chicken Lollipop with Honey Lemon Sauce chef’s kiss, Sauteed Sliced Beef with Straw Mushroom in Oyster Sauce, and Steamed Garoupa Fillet with Soya Sauce and Spring Onion. All these are best paired with Fried Rice with Minced Pork and Salted Egg Yolk. I mean, that’s rice, and we all know how much Pinoys love rice.

Aside from the dim sum, the star of the night day was the Dong Po-style Pyramid Pork Belly with Mantou. It’s not part of the Dim Sum Lunch Menu, but it’s available from as ala carte. It may look very sinful to the eyes – and we confirm it is -, but we know how delicious bad things are. Maybe reward yourself once in a while, but be mindful of health!

For the dessert, the crowd favorite is the Kataifi Roll with Avocado which didn’t disappoint. I didn’t know a sweet avocado flavor is perfect when fried. We also love – and I mean looooooveee – the Baked Mini Portuguese Egg Tart. The one little thing you’ll want to get home with. It’s tasty, creamy and I can only imagine how perfect it is when paired with black coffee (do they offer coffee? Let me know the next time you visit!).
