We have always been such a big fan of fusion restaurants mainly for the sole reason that you get the best of both worlds. Two great cuisines combined for the common goal – delicious dishes to offer.
Sobremesa, is a big testament to that. They offer a gastronomic fusion of South American and Filipino inspired dishes concocted by Head Chef and Part Owner – Benjo Tuason.
Joining the group of owners are celebrity siblings Daniel and Vanessa Matsunaga.
With their very appealing menu, classy ambiance and their no gadgets while dining policy, this restaurant proves to be more than just your average restaurant.
We had the opportunity to try Sobremesa during a bloggers lunch at the Sapphire Bloc, Ortigas District. Along with fellow foodies, we sampled their new offerings.
We started with basically the most interesting dish, launched just recently, the Sobremesa Ribs. This spiced, marinated and baked Baby Back Ribs served with their home made barbecue glazed with roasted garlic mashed potato and Baguio beans is every meat lovers delight.
Then, followed by the Bistek-Style Bangus with Salted Egg and Tomato Salsa. I have never loved Bangus more when I tasted this dish.
Next one was their Sauteed Seafood with Chili Garlic Butter and White Beans Salsa. We love its refreshing and delectable taste.
We undeniably love shrimps so when we noticed that there were plenty of dishes that has shrimps on it, we were more than excited. One of it was their Shrimp Poppers served with Jalapeno dipping sauce. I literally finished it to the very last piece.
Right after that, we tried one of their new mains which is the Carne Y Gambas. A perfect mix of 200g tender sirloin steak, chili sauteed shrimps and white bean salsa is what makes this dish truly mouth-watering.
This next dish that we tried is perfect for those who love Pork as Sobremesa’s Deep Fried Pork Belly with Corn Salsa offering is not only crunchy but undeniably appetizing as well.
The last Mains that we tried is their Grilled Lamb Steak. Its meat is so tender and bursting with flavor. Served with Potato and Bacon Salad with Sour Cream dressing and paired with Chimichurri sauce. Make sure not to missed this one when dining at Sobremesa.
Their Stir Fried Beef and Peppers with Poached Egg is also one of their lunch selection that is so hard to missed.
Then, lastly but definitely not the least, is their Peruvian Spiced Roasted Chicken (Quarter) with Potato Salad. I enjoyed this dish mainly because of the chicken’s flavorful taste.
At last, it’s dessert time. The Salted Caramel and Banana Cheesecake is one of the restaurant’s decadent dessert offering. We love how the caramel and banana complemented the cheesecake, making it so delicious.
We also tried their Mango Coconut and Almond Cheesecake and we can assure you that it doesn’t only look good but definitely taste good as well. My sweet tooth was absolutely overjoyed when I tasted these two cheesecakes.
Overall, it was such a big feast with several amazing dishes. With Sobremesa’s rich recipes and ever-evolving menu, everyone – foodie or not will surely enjoy dining at this superb Resto.
