Italy is one of the most beautiful countries in Europe; with a rich history and culture, jaw dropping architecture, and a cuisine a lot of people have fallen in love with, it’s no surprise Bistro Ravioli took inspiration from this gorgeous country.
With just a small kiosk offering specialty raviolis in a food court in 2002, Bistro Ravioli started gaining popularity which made them opened a bistro in that same year. By offering traditional Italian cuisine such as fresh pasta and brick-oven baked pizza and ravioli, Bistro Ravioli brings Italy closer to Manila with the freshest ingredients they could get to honor traditional Italian cooking that have captured the hearts of many.
The menu was crafted from heavily guarded and immensely treasured recipes that have been passed down from generation to generation that certainly will satisfy one’s craving for exceptional Italian cuisine.
We are starting this wonderful journey in the beautiful streets of Italy, in which, by the way, the interiors of Bistro Ravioli have been inspired from, with Rosticciana (Php 505). 1-pound tender Italian-style pork ribs grilled and coated with barbecue sauce, and served with stewed potatoes, this is definitely a heavy dish to start with but a delicious one, nonetheless.
Following this is Bistro Ravioli’s Lasagna Primevera (php 315). With roasted bell peppers, onions, mushrooms, eggplants, tomatoes, zucchini, mozzarella and cream cheese in between layers of pasta sheets, topped with béchamel sauce, this is one of the fresh pasta dishes Bistro Ravioli is known for. Plus, the cheese pull of this dish is heavenly!
As Bistro Ravioli started with their specialty which is ravioli, of course, we are not going to pass on an opportunity to what had put them on the map of delicious food to try out here in the Philippines. Their Spinach and Feta Cheese Ravioli in Pesto Sauce (Php 320) is a filling of spinach and feta cheese that brings that perfect contrast to the pomodoro sauce which coats the ravioli. Its goodness doesn’t stop there, though, because it is topped with roasted tomatoes and pesto which adds a refreshing flavor to the dish.
We have already tried one of their fresh pasta and one of their specialties; guess what we haven’t tried yet that Bistro Ravioli is known for. That’s right, their brick-oven baked pizza. But then again, we guess it’s just a great day for us because we got to try not only one, but two of their delicious brick-oven baked pizzas.
The first we got to try was Bistro Ravioli’s Italian Sausage and Bacon Pizza (Regular: Php 490; Bambino: Php 325). As we have mentioned, they only use the freshest ingredients they could get their hands onto so this pizza is made of slices of homemade Italian sausage, bits of bacon, topped with a handful of olives and capers. Here’s a little trivia for you, guys: It is in the owners’ ancestral home where the tomatoes are boiled for the perfect sauce and meats are cured for delectable sausages. We mean the pizza is already yum, and knowing that is such an added yum!
The other brick-oven baked pizza we got to munch on was the Honey Bacon and Jalapeño (Regular: Php 440; Bambino: Php 280). This one is absolutely our favorite! Both the contrast and blend of sweetness from the bacon and the spice from the jalapeños make more than a splendid pizza combination one shouldn’t miss out on.
With happy, filled tummies, we got to have one last dish from Bistro Ravioli and we are grateful it was a dessert. Specifically, their Choco Lava (Php 190). If you are a chocoholic, much like us, you’ll absolutely go gaga for this choco lava. It’s a delectable chocolate cake with ganache filling that would end your meal time being pleased with lip-smacking goodness!
The extra fun part here in Bistro Ravioli is that you can watch the staff make your dishes through a glass wall on the bar counter – may it be a pizza, a ravioli, or whatever. Also, they have added more on their bar menu as not only you’ll find coffee and some cold drinks there, but currently they have been offering alcoholic beverages as well.
With bright lights, pictures of beautiful sceneries in Europe, and faux plants, vines, and trees creeping up the walls, you’ll really feel like you’re in a stunning street or garden in Italy, enjoying a hearty, beautiful meal.
Truly, Bistro Ravioli is keeping its promise of an excellent dining experience at pocket-friendly prices, because not only laughter is brightest where food is best, but having to get a scrumptious meal that won’t make you pay your bills late is a meal really enjoyable.
