It’s no secret that Makati is one of the busiest business hubs in country. But did you know that Makati is also the home of numerous commercial, specialty, and third wave coffee shops in the metro? This is maybe one of the reasons why illy Caffé’s newest location is at Paseo Center.
illycaffè is a company that produces one blend of high quality coffee worldwide. Their coffee is made with nine kinds of pure Arabica. The company has been the leader in top quality Italian coffee for more than 30 years. We at What To Eat PH believe that this is of great significance and we’re just truly happy that illy Caffé is now within the reach of Filipinos.
We attended the grand opening of illy last February where we had a glimpse of the Italian coffee culture. Present at the ribbon cutting ceremony were Andrew Nathan, General Manager of illy for Asia-Pacific, and Italian Ambassador to the Philippines, Giorgio Guglielmino.
Globally renowned master barista trainer Fabrizio Aquè was also there. He gave a talk on coffee appreciation. Fabrizio is a graduate of illy’s very own Università del Caffè (the University of Coffee) and is now responsible of training budding baristas in eight Università del Caffès within Asia Pacific.
Fabrizio also showed us how to prepare the perfect cup of Italian Coffee. He made us latte, Cappuccino, and even coffee with liquors. We learned a lot during his talk and we enjoyed his demonstrations. He actually inspired us to study more about coffee.
Aside from coffee, we were also able to taste some of illy Caffé’s food offerings.
