The grand finals of Solane Kitchen Hero Chefs’ Edition held last September 6 at Elements at Eton Centris proved to be quite the sizzler as Solane, the leading name in LPG solutions, pitted 15 promising chefs to win the title, a cash prize of P 100,00, and a customized culinary trip to Japan.
This after the Solane LPG team, together with competition ambassador Chef Sau del Rosario and competition director Nancy Reyes Lumen of Team Adobo scoured the country, from Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao, to find the best chefs per region.
Chef Roseller Fiel II from the Zamboanga Peninsula emerged as the grand winner after besting the four other contestants in the Semi-finals. His scrumptious trio of dishes wowed the judges of the competition as he whipped up a salad of Kilawin na baboy with butter-poached lobster, grilled talong and ampalaya and coco-cream vinaigrette, an entrée of Humba Bisaya with brown rice pilaf, and a dessert of Dodol with caramel-tisa sauce and peanut-ginger brittle.
At the awarding ceremony, Fiel shared candidly, “I would like to thank Solane for coming up with this event. You’re not just giving chances to those culinary gems that are hidden, especially in the regions of Mindanao. You have given us a great platform – that there are talents that need to be discovered in Mindanao. We are more than the news you see. You can visit us and taste Mindanao, not just experience it. Thank you so much to Solane for this great opportunity you have given us.”
