Cooking has been therapeutic for us. We have shared a bunch of recipes with you guys ever since we started trying our skills on it. Staying home for more than a year now really has made us explore our skills in the kitchen and we once again found ourselves falling in love with preparing our own food and showing our love for our family through feeding them our personally made dishes. That being said, we also found ourselves upgrading our kitchen appliance – one of which is our pressure cooker.
Pressure Cooker is just pure magic for us. It could tenderize our protein in a shorter period of time compared to doing it manually. Anyway, as we were looking for a new pressure cooker, Instant Pot suddenly caught our attention as with theirs, we are not only going to get a pressure cooker, but also a slow-cooker, a rice cooker, and even a yogurt maker! Truly, Instant Pot is an amazing appliance and it is indeed a gem of a find we just had to have and now we have it!

We were so excited and we could not wait any longer, so we decided to use it right away. With our Instant Pot, we decided to make one of our favorite viands which we haven’t shared with you guys and that is none other than Nilagang Pata.

Nilagang Pata is a straightforward Filipino soup dish that is undeniably loved by many as it is perfect for sharing and big appetites. This traditional dish is commonly cooked and served in Filipino households and restaurants, because as we have said, this has everything the Filipino palate want – meat, specifically pata or pork hocks, saging na saba, potatoes, carrots, cabbages, leeks, and a bunch of spices! Yum yum yum, right?
Well, if you want to get a taste of our Nilagang Pata, then consider today as a yay day for you, because here is a step-by-step process of how we did ours! We even included the list of ingredients we used in order to achieve the perfect taste that we prefer. And of course, sharing our Nilagang Pata is not complete without our recipe video about it which we know is a nother yay!
Start with placing the pork hocks (pata) in the pot and then bring to a boil. Press (Saute) on the Instant Pot and then afterwards, skim off the scum.
Add ginger, onion, potatoes, carrots, whole black pepper, salt and then close the lid.
Set the steam release handle to the "sealing" position. Select (Pressure Cook) and use the (+) (-) buttons to set the time to 35 minutes.
Release the pressure and open the lid. Select (Cancel) then (Saute) to keep the ingredients boiling. Remove potatoes and carrots from the pot and set aside.
Then, add salt, fish sauce, saba bananas, cabbage and pechay baguio. Add the potatoes and carrots back and lastly the scallions.
Serve hot in a bowl and enjoy!
