Pinoy Dishes at Ineng’s Special Barbecue

When we think of Ineng’s we normally think of how delectable their barbecues are.  But little do we know that aside from their famous barbecue, they also have good Pinoy dishes to offer.  For the benefit of everyone, “Pinoy” is a local term used to call the Filipino people.

I had the chance to taste their Filipino dishes offering yesterday.  I chose their Pork Binagoongan and Dinuguan.  Both dishes are known for being so delectable and appetizing.  Dinuguan is stew of pork offal (typically lungs, kidneys, intestines, ears, heart and snout) and/or meat simmered in a rich, spicy dark gravy of pig’s blood, chili and vinegar. While Pork Binagoongan is pork sauteed in tomato and stewed in shrimp paste and garnished with slices of chili.

And since my helper only knows very few dishes, I rarely get to eat Dinuguan, so I went ahead and start with it first.

In my point of view, the best Dinuguan is the one with sour and salty taste.  If it taste anything like sweet, then I don’t like it.  So when I tasted Ineng’s Dinuguan, I was happy that it was the way I want it.  The acidic and yet salty taste is a deadly combination.  I got carried away and almost empty the bowl.

The Binangoongan on the other hand, is also flavorsome.  The lingering sweet and salty taste is what makes it a winner.  I was able to finish my whole cup of rice when I was only planning to eat half of it because of the very  good food served by Ineng’s.

The only other suggestion I have on the other hand, is for them to improve their customer service.  The waitress who assisted was not friendly and would often hesitate to give you what you are asking.  I had to asked twice when I ask for a tissue.  When she finally handed it out, I saw a small frown on her face.  And when I ask her to take out the food, she hesitated for a while before she went ahead and do it.  I understand her hesitation though since I asked to take out the left-over food with very few servings left.

Overall, I would still recommend this restaurant to my friends who are craving for good Filipino food at a reasonable price.  They have great selections of Filipino food to choose from and they have ample tables to sit in, even at the peak hours of lunch time.
