Located along the street of Valero, Makati City is this hidden gem called Relish at Ponte. I, personally had been living and working in Makati for the longest time but I didn’t know that this great restaurant exists.
The thing is, when you’re walking down the street of Valero, you will most likely choose to dine at one of the restaurants with big signage or names in front of their establishment. Relish at Ponte, on the other hand have their signage at the side, just like Seattle’s Best Coffee, situated in front of it.
The interiors, ambiance and vibe of this establishment is really impressive. With its outstanding furniture, great decors and designs, one must feel that it’s really a very fancy restaurant. But to our surprise, the menu is reasonably priced for the big serving that they offer.
We had the pleasure of meeting and chatting with one of the owner – Monique. She chose all the dishes that we will be sampling which was a good move since it’s basically our first time to try Relish.
So, we started off with the Amazing Artichoke Dip. Just by the name itself, it already implies how great this appetizer is.
It’s really crunchy and with just the right amount of saltiness. But what makes it good is when you dip it to the artichoke dip. We never really knew that an artichoke could be such a great tasting dip.
Next thing we tried is the South of the Border nachos. I must say, it’s really not your typical nachos. It’s overflowing with toppings, different sauces, lots of meat and garnishes. The sweet corn that came with it complements the nachos to every bit.
The South of the Border Nachos is really good for sharing, as it can serve 2-3 people.
The Relish Chef Salad is one of their dishes that I really enjoyed the most. I love how the veggies, the generous amount of chicken meat and the dressing produces so much flavor in your mouth. I literally almost finish the whole plate in less than a few minutes. That’s how good it is.
Next dish that we tried is the Wild Mushroom Pasta with Truffle Oil. The creaminess of the white sauce and truffle oil and the delicious taste of the wild mushroom is what makes this pasta over the top.
We can’t help devouring the dish right away as it looks so enticing. And, true to how it looks, we were very satisfied with the taste as well.
We have always been a fan of Salmon but there were more than one instances when we encounter this dish served so fishy that one bite is all we can muster.
But Relish’s Baked Salmon which is dipped in aoli, topped with cheese and garlic was such a delight. Squeezed the lemon a bit and it’s really beyond words when you taste it.
The Roasted Chicken which is one of their very famous dish does not need any grand words to describe it. Known for being one of the best sellers, their version of this is incomparable to the typical roasted chicken that you normally encounter. The tenderness of the meat is indescribable. It’s like you don’t have to chew it anymore.
Make sure to try this when you drop by at Relish, we can truly guarantee that you won’t regret it.
So we had the privilege to try their milkshakes as well. We were more than excited as the moment it was served, we were already drooling.
We tried their Chocolate Milkshake first and it’s one of the best milkshake we have ever tasted. The right amount of sweetness, not too overpowering and the whipped cream is so delicious. We love the rich taste of the chocolate in every sip.
We couldn’t say anything less about the Vanilla Milkshake because it was as delightful as the chocolate one. It’s like we’re eating ice cream because of how milky and creamy it is.
Now, if you’re on a diet and is currently staying away from packing those dreadful calories, the Relish Lemonade with Mint is the way to go. It’s a very refreshing lemonade drink that you’ll hardly find in any restaurant nowadays.
We also tried their Lemon Cucumber, which wasn’t on the menu at the time but Monique made sure that we tried it. I was very happy that I did, because it’s one of the best drink I had for such a long time. It’s undeniable refreshing taste is just the tip of the iceberg, the more you consume it, the more you will appreciate how light and healthy the drink is and it’s not really that citrusy but delicious instead. Which is really quite a surprise since it’s lemon based.
Last item that we tried is the Lemon Tart for dessert. This slice of pastry was definitely not so sweet. The lemon taste combined with the sweetness of the crust and the whipped cream on top made it so spectacular.
We really had such a great and lovely time with Relish at Ponte. The amazing dishes that was served, the great ambiance, the friendly staffs and crew plus the good company that Monique offered was really very memorable for us.
