Sinigang na Hipon Recipe

We have been dropping seafood dish one after the other, we know. We are not oblivious to that fact, okay? We have just gotten back from our trip to Palawan and we have been missing those fresh seafood dishes we have been digging into and enjoying back there. Positively, being close to the sea has its perks—and one of which is really being able to get your hands on the abundant bounty of it.

As we are now back in Manila and not much ready to dive right back into the city life yet, we have decided to load up our pantry with stocks of seafood and fish, hence us delivering more seafood recipes for you to try lately. We mean, it’s all good, right? You guys love a good seafood dish too, right?

Sinigang na Hipon

As that is the case, we have another shrimp dish for you to devour today. Sinigang na Hipon is such a comforting Filipino dish with a seafood twist. Often times, Pork and Beef Sinigang is our go-to here in Manila as those protein options are more accessible and budget-friendly here. By following our recipe on this dish, you will no doubt be delighting in a delicious warm bowl of sour Sinigang soup with the hint of sweetness and freshness of vegetables and of course, shrimp!

Sinigang na Hipon

Great for whenever, Sinigang na Hipon is truly a dish that is close to our hearts as this one is like a heartfelt embrace but in food form—which is what we always want to experience when eating. Ingredients:
 1 kg shrimp
 1 bundle of kangkong
 1 bundle of string beans
 4 green chilis
 7 okra
 2 white onions
 5 tomatoes
 3 eggplants
 1 radish
 44 g tamarind mix
 1.50 liter of water
 1 tbsp salt
 1 tbsp fish sauce
 ¼ tsp ground black papper

Directions:

Slice onions, tomatoes, green chilis, okras, eggplants, string beans, and radishes; and then emove leaves from kangkong. Set them aside.

In a large pot, add water. Bring it to a boil.

Add onion, tomatoes, and radishes. Cook for 2 to 3 minutes.

Add salt, ground black pepper, string beans, eggplants, okra, and green chilis.

Add tamarind mix. Mix.

Add fish sauce. Mix.

Add shrimps and kangkong. Cover it with a lid and let it simmer for a while.

Transfer to a serving bowl. Serve and enjoy!
