The Belle and Dragon is a bewitching little spot located in Palanca Street in Makati City that offers you with a great place to relax chill and enjoy great food. We got to try it out for ourselves and here are seven reasons why we are definitely coming back with our best buds.
- Groovy Interior
This gastropub would immediately catch your attention with its IG worthy interior design. True to its main concept, East meets Pub, you would definitely enjoy the fusion of unique eastern vibe and the comfy atmosphere of western pubs. The place is spacious and homey which makes it perfect for all kinds of barkada, big or small.
- Friendly and Accommodating Staff
If you are in search for that one place that would be your gang’s constant hang out place, a la How I Met Your They other’s McLaren’s Pub or Friends’ Central Perk, then you gotta make sure that they have friendly and accommodating staff. The Belle and Dragon have just that. The servers, the barkeep, the barista, everyone in their team are very welcoming and helpful, which makes the place feel even more like home.
- The Booze
A pub is not complete without their menu of cocktails, beers and drinks. You would definitely not fall on choices with the myriad of the amazing concoctions being offered in The Belle and Dragon. We got to sample some of their prized cocktails and beers and man, do we love it!
- The Feast
The Booze should not be the only reason to visit this awesome place because they also offer a wide selection of sumptuous dishes that would definitely satisfy your cravings. They offer a very creative take on classic western dishes by infusing it with eastern flavour.
Their Uh-Huh Honey Chicken is a perfect example of this unique western cuisine with Asian flavour. This dish is made up of tender boneless chicken drizzled with honey hot sauce served with house biscuits, Asian slaw and blue cheese.
Their Lechon Sinigang is their unique take on two of our pinoy favourite dishes. The sinigang broth has that classic sour flavour that pinoys love, and we certainly love how the meat is crispy on the outside but soft and tender on the inside. Needless to say, this definitely became our instant favourite!
You also shouldn’t miss out on their other amazing cuisine like the B&D Sisig (which is both perfect with rice or as partner with their draft beers) B&D Burger, Charred Mackerel Pangat and Smoked Chicken Adobo.
Unlike most gastropubs, B&D opens early at 11AM so you can enjoy their food for lunch or brunch.
- Dessert!
There should always be a special section for dessert and it’s a good thing that The Belle and Dragon also have their dessert offerings. We loved the balance of sweetness, creaminess and tang of fruity flavour of their Oops, I Dropped the Berry Pie as much as we love the story behind its name. (Make sure to ask their friendly staffs about this interesting bit during your visit). They also have the Sticky Toffee Pudding and Campire Fondue, so indulge your sweet tooth with these treats too.
- Cool Activities
The Belle & Dragon offers regular activities you and your barkada would definitely enjoy. Channel your gang’s inner competitive monster during the B&D’s Quiz Night and Music Trivia Night, or if your troop just wanna chill with some good music or you want to strut your stuff on the floor, they regularly invite over bands or DJs that would provide you with your doze of chill music or party beats. What makes these activities cooler is that The Belle & Dragon partners with different charities for the various events of the bar, so you are not only enjoying yourself, you are also helping out a good cause.
It’s a perfect barkada spot where you can hang out, chill, relax and have fun. So next time you are planning another #bestnightever trip with your buddies, make sure to check out The Belle and Dragon and experience East meets Pub.
