From its name, you can already tell that Tocino Fried Rice is a mishmash of both Tocino and the classic ever-loved Fried Rice. From our research, Tocino is Spain’s take on a Bacon as it is made from pork belly formed into cubes. Introduced to the Philippines during Spanish colonization, Filipinos have owned this dish by tweaking it with a trademark of Filipino flavors, namely sweet, garlicky, and peppery making this dish a go-to of many, especially ones that enjoy a blend of sweet and savory goodness.

As that is the case, Filipinos actually love having Tocino for breakfast so as to give them a sweet start to their day! A popular Tocino breakfast dish here in the Philippines is Tocilog which is a plate filled with Tocino, fried rice, and egg often times cooked sunny side up style. Aside from that though, Tocino Fried Rice is another crowd favorite and as we have said, that is what we went for today.
