Located just above Amorita Resort’s famous poolside restaurant, Saffron, is another reason to love even more and level up your staycation at this award-winning luxury boutique resort at the southeastern end of Bohol’s famed Alona Beach with their wine and tapas bar, the Tomar Tapas x Bar. The “Tomar” word being in Spanish which means “to take’ in English, this bar is perfect for people looking for more excitement and energy to take as it offers staple Spanish cuisines with a twist– such as classic tapas, paellas, and pintxos (small snacks).
The owners being inspired by their terrific travels and splendid food trips in Spain decided to introduce a Spanish tapas bar that adds a feel of festivity to this darling resort with of course, Spanish cuisine paired with carefully curated wine and whisky from all over the world. Just like in Saffron, ingredients used here in Tomar Tapas x Bar, are sourced locally and definitely fresh – from fish, to scallops, to shrimps, to octopus, and to other seafood gathered from the rich, beautiful waters surrounding the gorgeous island!
Our meal started with some tasty Pinxtos – Manchego Cheese with Balsamic Reduction and Quail Eggs on a Crisp Toast. The Manchego Cheese with Balsamic Reduction was truly a delicious dish; bursting with flavors, especially the juicy treat that is tomato.
While the Quail Eggs on a Crisp Toast is a Pinxto so lip-smacking good as it looks so appetizing! The crispy toast added a fun extra crunch to this already yummy dish.
After having those, we got to try one more starter, which is the Croquetas. Oozing with rich delectable flavors, while a contrast of crunchy texture in every bite, this dish gives the diner a balance of a lovely adventure.
For a bit more adventure, Tomar Tapas x Bar’s Gambas offers to spice things up a bit. With hints of gentle heat from the chili, together with the plump, fresh shrimps covered in nutty richness of olive oil, this dish is definitely one you should not miss out!
If you are looking for more pack of crunch, this lovely dish that is deep fried battered squid drizzled with creamy alioli is a starter which will make you think twice if it really is a starter. This Crisp Calamares is still just an avenue for Tomar Tapas x Bar’s wonderful mains.
For their mains, we got to try some of their famous paellas everyone is raving about – Paella Valenciana and Paella Negra. Both memorable dishes with their rich, spicy flavors and generous toppings of prawn and green mussels, these dishes are individually exquisite on their own.
The Paella Valenciana is hands down an all-time favorite of many Filipinos, and Tomar Tapas x Bar of Amorita Resort proved to us once again why almost everyone loves it. With glutinous rice and egg slices on top, alongside different spices that makes up a flavor like no other, no wonder this dish is such a hit.
Another rice dish many have fallen in love with is the Paella Negra. Just like Paella Valenciana, Paella Negra is served with glutinous rice, but this one is simmered in squid ink, topped with fresh seafood such as plump shrimps and succulent mussels. No doubt, this dish is another crowd favorite!
If this is still not a good time, then maybe having some glasses of Sangria and a plate of soft, indulgent, crisp Churros will do the trick for you! Delicately deep fried and generously dabbed with rich and thick Spanish chocolate, these Churros are the perfect way to end our hearty hefty meal – thanks to Tomar Tapas x Bar!
