Tortang Sardinas Recipe

A lush meal is indeed something that we enjoy from time to time, but do you know what we enjoy even more than that? It is none other than dishes that we really have grown with. Dishes that our mothers have fed us into what and who we are now. Those kind of dishes are the dishes that really take us back to the times when everything is just simple and easy; when all we need to do is sit down on the table wait for our mom to put food on our plate and know that we will love it all up.

There are a lot of homey dishes that sure make us warm and we adore having, especially in times of when we feel like running back to our mom’s arms and one of those dishes is the Tortang Sardinas. This dish has filled us up with joy many times than we would like to admit, but here we are admitting that now. Tortang Sardinas is just a wonderful go-to dish when we want something that is easy to whip up and at the same time make us feel at home.

Many times did we find ourselves in a rush, particularly in the morning, and let’s just say that Tortang Sardinas have saved us a lot of times from going hungry while on the commute. Tortang Sardinas is not only a homey dish, it is also a versatile one as this one can be a delightful pairing to rice or even a lovely stuffing or filling in a bread, which is a better choice really if we are running late for our appointment.

Made with eggs, canned sardines alongside other ingredients that make it even yummier than what you think or maybe know, this can also be a delectable snack for when we are taking a break from all the work and chores we are doing. Ingredients:
 4 cans of sardines
 1 carrot, chopped
 2 stalks of celery, chopped
 1 cloves of garlic, chopped
 1 onion, chopped
 1 red bell pepper, chopped
 7 tbsp cornstarch
 6 eggs, whisked
 ½ tsp ground pepper
 1 tbsp salt
 1 tbsp brown sugar
 2 tbsp cooking oil

Directions:

On a big bowl, pour the contents of the sardines. Add the garlic, onions, red bell pepper, salt, ground pepper, brown sugar and carrots.

Add the chopped celery, cornstarch, the sardine sauce, and the whisked eggs. Mix everything thoroughly.

On a medium heat pan, pour the cooking oil and then fry the sardines mixture, roughly about 30 seconds on each side or depending on your preference.

When cooked, you may drain on paper towels for excess oil.

Serve hot and enjoy or pair it with a dipping sauce that you prefer!
