TRA VIHN: Banawe’s best kept secret Vietnamese restaurant!

How to describe my experience at Tra Vihn? Two Words –FOOD COMA

Last Saturday, I had the chance to visit Tra Vihn.  I haven’t been to Vietnam, but because of Tra Vihn, it gave me a stronger urge to visit the country since I did enjoy the authentic dishes that was served to us.

TRA VIHN; is a coastal province in Southern Vietnam and that’s where one of the owners’ wife is from and that’s why they decided to use it as their restaurants’ name. Another branch of Tha Vihn is in Perth, Australia, so if you’re visiting Australia, make sure to drop by their branch there! 🙂

Together with other food bloggers, we met one of the owners who had oriented us with their different dishes. He even asked us to get ready since they’ll be serving A LOT. And what he means by A LOT is almost everything on the menu!!!

If you’re wondering what has been served have a quick look of the photos below. I’ll let the photos speak for itself too:

Vietnamese Iced Coffee 100php

This one’s my favorite! I never thought  Iced Coffee would taste this good! This was first served to me when I arrived.  I always knew that coffee is one of the reasons to visit Vietnam and with this, I couldn’t agree more. 🙂

Prawn Pomelo Salad and Prawn Mango Salad 250php/each

IMG_8614

Freshly chopped vegetables with fresh prawns, fresh locally sourced green mango and/or pomelo, peanuts, herbs and spices. Served with Tra Vihn’s special dressing. We we’re thought on how to eat this one, it was said that at first it doesn’t include the chips/chicharon on side but a customer (correct me if I’m wrong) suggested that it’s best eaten with the chips.

Fresh Spring Roll (Goi Cuon) – price varies on choice of stuffing

IMG_8617

Who wouldn’t be familiar with this Fresh Spring Roll? Tra Vihn serves this with peanut sauce together with your choice of stuffing inside; Special (Prawn and Pork) for 190php, Prawn for 180php, Pork for 180php and Vegetarian for 180php.

Phoritto – A Vietnamese Pho in a Buritto

Vietnamese Pancake (Banh Xeo) 290php

IMG_8621

The size was just right for the price. I never thought that from the usual pancake I like eating, there’s a different version of it in Vietnam. At first I thought I didn’t want to try it because of all these “leaves”, but when I had my first bite, I just can’t stop. You wouldn’t even taste all the “leaves” because the pancake has a more powerful taste and I loved it!

L – R: Tra Vihn’s Vietnamese Pomelo Citrus Drink, Soda Water with Lemon Juice and Tra Vihn’s Home Brew Vietnamese Iced Tea

IMG_8620

These drinks were just perfect after eating all those appetizers/entrees! They can be ordered with glass for 75php and pitcher as showing on the photo above for 150php.

After everything was served for the “Entree’s/Starters”, I was seriously full. Never thought will be moving to the next batch, which was the noodles:
