With a lovely wordplay for a name, Vanderlust came to be on the honeymoon of Valerie and Anthony as they both love adventure which can be described as wanderlust. As they got inspired with their trip from Europe in which they were able to tour around thirteen countries and have fallen in love with the culture and the cuisine, Vanderlust first started with pastries and soon expanded into more savory dishes.
Trying to highlight travel and lifestyle, Vanderlust opened their second branch in The Podium just the summer of 2018 wherein you can enjoy more of what they are offering such as pastas, mains, pastries, and of course drinks.
That being said, the pasta dishes of Vanderlust are truly a must-try as each has a unique, delicious flavor and that is exactly where this delicious dining experience will start.
First, a classic Italian pasta dish Cacio E Pepe which means cheese and pepper comes in three different variants – the Cacio E Pepe Classic (Php 248), the Cacio E Pepe Mushroom Truffle (Php 428), and the Cacio E Pepe Prawns & Lemon (Php 558).
After that is the Pesto di Basilico (Php 288) which is an al dente pasta with Liguarian inspired pesto sauce that combines nuts, garlic, and basil; and paired with aromatic pesto chicken breast.
Third is a pasta dish that is light yet not missing out on flavor because the Pesto Bianco (Php 288) is tangy with a bite of sweetness to it, alongside some nuts, lemons, and sundried tomatoes.
The fourth and last pasta dish is the Classic Bolognese which looks appetizing as it tastes delicious and satisfying at the same time.
Trying one of Vanderlust’s mains, the II Naufrago (Php 478) is a delightful order of stuffed crusted chicken breast resting on top of herbed pilaf surrounded by marinara sauce garnished with essence of basil.
And of course, easing into some sweets, the Dutch Babies (Php 298) is sort of like a pancake but batter, and is sometimes called as a German Pancake, a Bismarck, or a Dutch Puff.
This dish called Dutch Babies has six variants – three are of savory and three are of sweet. The Baby Breakfast which is one of the savory Dutch babies is of kielbasa, poached egg, arugula, and German sweet mustard.
Meanwhile, for the sweet Dutch Babies, the Lagerfeuer also known as Campfire is roasted marshmallow over flambéed mangoes. Another Dutch babies that is sweet is the Sehr Beere also known as Very berry is better than berries and crème crepe!
Onto where Vanderlust all started, their pastries are so worth it of all the yummy noises. One of which is The Classic (Php 80) that is definitely a delight in every bite. Followed by the Cheesecake Mille Feuille (Php 100) which is all cheesy and creamy!
Also, the Verry Matcha or Tres Matcha which is of matcha and berries, the Suffering Nut or Noix Souffrante which is of spiced pineapple and coconut, the Crying Milk or Lait Qui Pleure which is of dulce de leche, flaky sea salt, and bittersweet dark chocolate, and lastly, the Crazy Hazel or Folie aux Noisettes which is of banana and hazelnut are hands down all heaven on earth!
As if all those are not enough to fill your sweet tooth, the Gianduiotto (Php 195) is actually a chocolate originally from Piedmont, in northern Italy. Its name is from gianduja, which is a chocolate spread containing hazelnut paste and chocolate!
Vandelust also have some coffee for coffee lovers which are perfect for their dishes and pastries alike. The Coffee Espresso, Americano, Cappuccino, Flat White, Latte, and Matcha Latte are from their Hot or calda selection. While for their Iced or Fredda selection, they also have Americano, Latte, and Matcha as delectable refreshments.
