Filipino Comfort Food and more at Penong’s Chicken Barbecue

There actually is more to Filipino cuisine than what people see on the surface. It’s more than just sinigang, adobo, and nilaga. As the Philippines is made up of different islands, each of those has their own way of cooking and own signature dishes to boast, so really, when people explore Philippines, it’s not only the beauty, the culture, and the people should they get to meet and indulge themselves with, because the food all around Philippines are must-tries as well!

Penong’s actually started with the goal to highlight the flavors of both Davao and Cebu, alongside some classic Filipino favorites that the Filipinos have grown up with like Mangga’t Bagoong (Php 69), Sizzling Sisig (Php 207) which is made of pig head, fried garlic, onions, sliced pork and soy sauce, as well as Kinilaw (Php 225) which is of blue marlin with cucumber, green mango, lemon, red onions, and vinegar which are just the teasers, so to speak.

Other than those, Penong’s has a ton of other dishes that are cooked in different ways. They have dishes that are grilled, steamed, and fried, among others. Their Chicken Barbecue (Php 110) which is marinated chicken, grilled the Filipino way is dubbed to be one of the bests; while their Pork Pinakbet (Php 220); Tuna Panga per 100g (Php 82); Crispy Pata (Php 624) which is of crispy pork leg with atcharang papaya; and Lechon Kawali (Php 207) which is a popular Filipino dish made with pork belly simmered until tender and then deep-fried until golden and crisp are just a few of their bestselling dishes that people could not deny their love for.

For some broth, stew, and soup to go great with every Pinoy’s fave sidedish – rice, Penong’s has Bulalo (Php 294) which is a classic Filipino stew made from beef shanks; Sinigang na Baboy (Php 207) which is a stew pork characterized by a sour and savory taste with vegetables such as radish and water spinach also known as kangkong; and Seafood Mandaragat (Php 499) which is a rich creamy soup made with various kinds of seafood like crabs, shrimp, fish meat, and squid.

After all that, as Philippines is also known for being a tropical country, of course, Penong’s is offering Fresh Fruits (Php 88) like banana, mango, papaya, watermelon as dessert with the added bonus that is cream.

Currently, Penong’s is currently looking into the possibility of adding function rooms into their hopefully, more future branches, but they are also still open for reservations, especially for big groups or people who have a special occasion to celebrate or a gathering to do.
