Ka Tunying’s: Time to feast on #PanlasangMakabayan

When it comes to classic Filipino comfort food in a casual dining setting, you can never go wrong with Ka Tunying’s. Serving Pinoy favorites since 2015, they indeed have stayed true in their aim to serve dishes that are #PanlasangMakabayan.

We have been wanting to try Ka Tunying’s for quite some time now and it’s because we have heard some good things about them, plus who are we to deny ourselves delicious Filipino food, right? With that, we finally got to dine with them as we got to visit their well-loved Tagaytay branch just recently.

Ka Tunying’s

With a lovely and spacious dining area that is filled with wooden tables and chairs, one would feel at home in an instant. Obviously, their menu is packed with OG Filipino classics as well as a number of classics with a twist so there is something for everybody here at Ka Tunying’s!

Ukoy
Salted Egg Shrimp

Easing us into the feast that they have prepared for us, our Ka Tunying’s dining experience started with their tasty and crunchy Ukoy (Php 275) that comes with spiced vinegar, and their Salted Egg Shrimp (Php 400) which comes with garlic aioli. These two had us wanting for more as these really got us hooked!

Bulalo Ala Tunying
Kansi
Tinapa Rice

To warm up our tummies, Ka Tunying’s next served us their Bulalo Ala Tunying (Php 490) as well as their Kansi (Php 505). These dishes are two classics that had us wrapped in bliss and delicious flavors. As much as their Bulalo Ala Tunying really hit the spot for us, their Kansi also had a pull on our taste buds and hearts. On top of that, these dishes went really well with their flavorful Tinapa Rice (Php 230) which is honestly a whole meal in itself already.

Daing Pesto Pasta
Arroz Ala Tunying

Carbing things up even more, their Daing Pesto Pasta (Php 300) and Arroz Ala Tunying (Php 200) were also satisfying. Every forkful and mouthful of these two just gets better and better, as they were also comforting in their own ways.

Roasted Lechon Belly
Crispy Pata
Beef Caldereta
Classic Beef Kare-Kare

For viands, Ka Tunying’s did not let us leave without trying out a few of their pork and beef dishes. For pork, we had their Roasted Lechon Belly (Php 460) and their Crispy Pata (Php 970), while for beef, we had their Beef Caldereta (Php 460) and their Classic Beef Kare-Kare (Php 435). These crunchy, tender, saucy, and savory dishes were must-tries, especially paired with rice.

Turon
Palitaw

Just when we thought we were already done, Ka Tunying’s placed in front of us their Turon (Php 120) and Palitaw (Php 140) which tied the meal together. We love ending our meals on a sweet note and these two gave us just the right amount of sweetness which we were really delighted in.

Barako Latte
Mochabayan
Fiesta Gulaman
Ensayamada

Aside from food, Ka Tunying’s also has a number of drinks that we think diners should not miss out on. If you are a coffee lover, we suggest getting your hands on their Barako Latte (Php 160) and Mochabayan (Php 160), but if you feel like filling your sweet tooth even more while also being refreshed, then don’t think twice about going for their Fiesta Gulaman (Php 125) and Ensayamada (Php 170).
