Being one of the lucky individuals who were invited to the event’s press release, I was able to try first-hand the glorious occasion at Solaire’s The Forum. As we went inside, we were welcomed by the staff and crew wearing their glamorous lederhosen and dirndl; the room was even decorated to complete the feel of Munich, Germany.

To start up, baskets of irresistibly good oven-fresh German bread and pretzels were served as appetizers. Two types of salad (Munich style sausage salad and German potato salad) were also present at our tables along with the oh-so-drool worthy German cold cuts and cheese platters.

Guests were entertained by the master of ceremonies German Club’s Michael Scheile and co-emcee, Eiffelene Salvador as they request everyone to stand up and dance to an Oktoberfest classic, the Fliegerlied. Everyone was having fun trying to reach the pace of the increasingly speedy tempo of the music.

After all the dancing, we were then served with a variety of savoury sausages like the Weisswurst, and an assortment of delightful meats such as pork schnitzel, Swabian red bratwurst, Kaesekrainer, and veal sausages. I can’t even remember how many times we asked for another set of serving as it just makes you want more.

To vividly show the fun brought by Oktoberfest, guests were invited to participate in a beer drinking game and food relay that left all our faces laughing and our stomachs full.

For the desserts, mouthwatering classics were served; apple and walnut strudel, vanilla sauce and ice cream, Kaiserschmarn (a dish made of shredded rum raisin pancakes with berry compote and vanilla sauce) were all set out on our tables trying to make us forget how much we already ate.
